Awards

Each year, at the Winter Ball, we recognize those who contributed the most to arts and music in the Portland area during the preceeding year.

Congratulations to Derek Rainey, Portland Community Arts Council Artist of the Year for 2009, for his work with the Verlen Kruger Memorial Committee.  Derek created the bronze statue that will be unveiled on June 26, 2010, to honor paddler Verlen Kruger.

Awarding the 2009 Musician of the Year Award was bittersweet.  Donna Boos Heckman, who lost her battle with cancer in 2009, gave many years to providing music to Portland and the surrounding communities.  Rest in Peace, Donna dear.
